Science at Paseo

Paseo del Rey Natural Science Magnet first opened its doors in 1962 and started as a small, neighborhood school. Over the past 50 years, it has grown into a Science Magnet with a diverse student population from throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Teachers, parents, students and alumni, as well as the local residents and business community, have enthusiastically supported Paseo. This support has provided our children with opportunities for greater academic excellence and cultural diversity, without losing the personal caring, nurturing, safety, and intimacy of a neighborhood school.

Paseo del Rey Natural Science Magnet believes in the whole child, the whole family and the whole community experience.  As a LMU Family of Schools member, we provide our students and families with a STEAM curriculum and family events that give them 21st century experiences that will ready students for Middle, High School and beyond. In addition to our Science Lab, Paseo also provides Planet Bravo, YMCA Youth Yoga, Writer’s Workshop, Cognitively Guided Instruction, CGI, Mathematics, Orchestra/Music, STAR P.E., and the social emotional support of Mindfulness and Restorative Justice.

As a member of the Paseo family, you and your child will find caring, knowledgeable teachers and staff that differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of all students. Paseo teachers are highly trained and committed to cutting edge curriculum and pedagogy, many carrying a Master degree, Costen Fellows, and National Board certified. Paseo gives parents an opportunity to build community through PTO and social events.  Paseo is a place to try Science on for size.
